Check this Microcenter link for external HDD enclosures. You want USB 2.0 for a 2.5" HDD. Good Luck.

Look for an external USB drive bay that fits that kind of laptop hard drive. I did the same thing with an internal CD burner and it works a little slower than it did when in an internal bay, but it definitely works. So if you do this, be prepared for the slower access and data transfer times.
As far as where... hm... look around for PC electronics stores online, may hard drive sellers as well. I'm sure someone has something for this application and it shouldn't be very expensive at all.

first buy two things
a usb harddrive enclosure
a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch pata interface adapter
on teh back of the laptop should be a cover to expose the harddrive, take out the harddrive, put on the adapter, put it in the harddrive enclusure. from this point you will have to use your imagination, the harddrive must be secured inside the inclusure, but the inclousure is made to fit full size harddrives.
some duct tape would work if put on securely enough. some industeral strength velcro is probably the best way, industrial strength, not the regular stuff
