512mb is more than enough! If you want a little extra "OOMPH" you can free up some computer resources by doing some simple steps to increase overall performance. 1st Right click anywhere on the desktop in an open space- go to Properties - Click the Applications tab Go to "Effects" in the bottom right corner - and de-select all the options. Then go to "Settings" tab, and change your color quality to 16bit. 32 or even 24 is overkill for most computer users. And 99% of the time, you won't even be able to tell the difference. And last but not least Right click on the "My Computer" icon- go to the "Advanced Tab" -Click the "Settings" under the Performance category, and select "Adjust for best performance." These simple steps will give you the best bang for your buck with your current computer configuration. This way you can speed up your computer without having to spend a dime, or even crack open the case. Have fun!

I have 512 RAM and usually have two or three programs open simultaneously. I haven't not run into a problem yet; however, I have my screensaver set to blank and do not load any programs unnecessarily.
Screensavers with graphics consume memory and slow you down.

yeah, you need far more then that....actually 512mb would be about right ;) You could probably get away with 256mb though if you're willing to put up with slowdowns
