I've done it before and it worked but I tried today and it gets 25% through the process of formatting the drive and re-initialisng it and the computer just turns itself off. Any ideas?

I'm new to thumb drives.

According to the thumb drive's packaging box, it should work instantly with all computers and all OS types.

Not with me. When I plug in the thumb drive, the PC would say, 'new hardware detected - search for driver database etc, etc.' In the end, I end up with an unknown device and a big fat yellow question mark in the control panel.

I have tried reading web sites but they are all useless. They say 'please select drive letter for your thumb drive'. Heck, I cannot even select a drive letter! How do you do that? Even my BIOs cannot detect the thumb. The only thing that works is the thumb's little light.

I've even tried downloading drivers. Useless, again!

By the way, I use Windows 98SE. Also, my USB drivers already have drivers installed and they work properly (my USB modem works fine). And I don't have any viruses.

ive installed windows xp lots of times! but i always had a fresh copy of windows 98! now i dont have a source of upgrading from 98. and im screwed! arent i? is there a way to install, rather than upgrad windows xp on a newly formatted harddrive. maybe some kind of extra MSdos files i could use to some how support the program?

i froze it for 2 hours, and it didnt click but made a wizzing noise. I know its spinning. what are some fixes i can try to retrieve the data. Zip disks are handy for doing routine backup of genetal documents such as Word and Excel files, unlike CD-R's where after one use they are done and just have to be thrown away.

I had a zip drive with my old G4, but some people give the latest model of the Zip 100 bad reviews. Should I get it or not? I already have plenty of Zip Disks.

I bought a new SDRAM which is a 256 MB and I have two SDRAM with 64 MB of sizes. My motherboard has 3 slots for its memory. What will be the order of my memory cards in the slots to produce a more faster performance of my computer. Thanx!
