right clicking on the "x:" and selecting display picture, does not work. What else can I try?

Right click on the " X " at the top left corner of the image then show image

Well if it doesn't turn up after selecting the "display image", it means either the link is orphaned or the image does not exist.

Tools / Internet Options / General/ Settings / Check for newer versions of stored pages: Set to "Every visit to the page"'

Apply and OK out, close all of your IE windows, and then try the pages again.

2. In internet options /advanced/scroll down under Multimedia and put a checkmark in 'show pictures' , and uncheck 'show image download placeholders'/Apply.

3. Clear your cache: - IE / Tools / Internet Options / General Tab/Delete Files and Delete all offline content/Clear History / Delete Cookies , Under Advanced Tab/ "Security" = check "Empty Tempory Internet Files folder when browser is closed" / Apply / Ok +
