I am thinking about getting a Mac computer for video editing as the main use...what kind would you suggest?

If you're going to do a lot of video editing then take a look at the Mac Pro. It's not cheap, but it does cost less than a comparably equipped Dell, and it's extremely powerful and expandable. If you want to edit your personal videos and don't need to edit 40 hours/week, then any of the new Macs should be fine. Just make sure you add enough RAM. At least 1 GB, but two or more is preferred for video.

i have an iMac G5 1.8ghz 2gb ram - perfect for video and audio editing, imovie and idvd come installed, great programs, 3rd party programs are good too, real video friendly

The one that you can afford that will do what you want it to do in the timeframe you want it to do it in.
