i froze it for 2 hours, and it didnt click but made a wizzing noise. I know its spinning. what are some fixes i can try to retrieve the data. I have a new one from WD coming to replace it but i need the infgo off this one and i do not want to pay hundreds of bucks for something i can do myself. Hey thats what the internet is for.

it says disk read error. Primary slave error. I will try disconnecting the power supply and see if thats it i guess.

I got it Spanish bean!(getting you back for the cracker thing earlier).I dont know what a wd 160gigia cavair is......so ....good luck with that!!!!

Did you try shutting down your machine?
My 500 Caviar did the same thing to me once.
Got me a little nervous, but all I had to do was shut everything down, remove power source, plus the power back in, and turn it on.

Note: did not work w/o unplugging power source, wouldn't even recognize the HDD.

no fixes for this although if you put it in an antistatic bag in the freezer for an hour or so it may start long enough for you to retreive some files
