I haven't used the iMac in a couple of years. Loads of problems that I'm starting to fix now. I had just let it go. First things first though, I need to run First Aid. According to the help menu, if the "verify" and/or "repair" buttons are grayed out, it's because it's locked and needs admin. info. But it's not locked, and I did try entering my info anyway. Lock isn't the problem. Any ideas of why I can't get First Aid to run? Thanks!

I tried another cable that is relatively new, same problem so it is not the cable. I tested the monitor on another pc and it works fine. I downloaded drivers for the video card and installed them and still not working right. Windows troubleshooting suggests updateing the BIOS drivers , and I can download these from Dell. Will try this, if not this then is it a bad video card?

Hi. I'm 16. Well my older sister just moved out and has gone to college and all. But before she left, she helped me clean the room up and my mother had the carpet men shampoo the carpet. So that's just left with decor. I've got everything in there except for a computer.

Should I get a Desktop w/ the Flat Screen(I think that's it or something) or should I get a Laptop and why? I heard that Laptops go out quicker that Desktops. Is this true?

Using windows xp, is there a simple way of checking if my ink cartidges are full? I seem to remember someone doing this before and seeing a graph appear on the screen, telling them how much ink was in the cartridge. They did'nt have to physically remove the cartridge from the printer. I tried a test page and all I got was black font, so I know that the black cartridge is ok.
Thanks

I may go hours without incident. Then suddenly a restart. I am using Mcaffee A/V with firewall and have scanned for spy/adware. Even messed with video driver. Have done all updates, etc...Computer says it has recovered from a serious error but usually gives no error code. I report it everytime but recieve no repair tips. Should I do a recovery? I even Reinstalled IE7 and scanned registery for errors and repair. Is my video card going to hell? I don't know!!! Bout ready to give up!!!

It would help to be able to see whether water is flowing as access is difficult.

I have a PC and Broadband connection. Would I need my own web site? What hardware would I need? etc.

Thanks.

Local stores offer 4X6 prints for as little as 15 cents each. Considering you have to buy the printer dock or printer itself, the paper and the ink, is it cheaper? I'm thinking of an HP printer or a Kodak Printer dock. What do you use to print photos ?

Went on vacation and turned off my computer and all the power leading up to it and everything else in the same plug-in strip, including the monitor and printer. Have been sweeping for viruses frequently and scanned just before leaving. When I got back from vacation and tried to re-boot it said "Disc Boot Failure - unable to read hard drive - please insert system disc". Turned power off several times and tried again, all unsuccessful. The memory is only about 40% full so it can't be that.

What to do?

my external drive is already formatted into drive L and drive M; however i really don't like the size of each drive. i would like to format them into one larger and one smaller drive.

please advise how i should go about doing it. i am using a window xp. although i was told to simply right click the specific drive, but how does that apply to a drive that was formatted into two. would the drive that was clicked on find my other drive? any help would be really appreciated.

I have a Dell laptop with a couple of USB 1.1 ports. I am looking for a hardware adaptor/converter that I could connect to these ports to make them work like usb 2.0 ports. Are there any such devices available in the market at a reasonable cost ?
