Celerons are a "low end" chip made by Intel.
AMD is a British chip maker that produces a lot of different chips.
I have PCs that are running both Celerons and AMDs. I have not found enough difference between them to matter.
Go with the one you can get the best deal on.

Lol, sorry but thats some debate there, AMD used to be better but Intel pulled out all the stops and now are better, i have one of either and only thing i can say is the 3d engine for AMD will do things that Intel wont.
The Intel runs colder and uses less power and seems faster after long time on.
Icould go on and on here but its a matter of ..........well just about anything you care to think of in respect of computers.
What M/board does the respective sysems have?
What Ram (amd just got a hold of ddr2)?
What graphics card would on.?
Operating system?
..........loads, we all have our ideas but we all use the computer if different ways.

I would recommend AMD for gaming,
and Intel for any Encoding work or hardware access

because AMD usually got many coprocessor features
that often get supported by games that provide the same result at a lower clock speed...

The Intel model with equivalent perfs usually works at a higher speed that makes it good for sutff like Video Editing / Encoding

I remmember
My Intel worked immediatly ...
I had to patch and patch again the windows on my sister's AMD
( the needed VIA chipset driver update was OK 1 year later )

AMD's > Celeron

Hell,

Anything > Celeron

Point being AMD is great, try going for a AMD Athlon 3800+ at least, or higher. They're as reliable as can be, and fast computers overall. Great for gaming, internet browsing, sending the grandkids E-Mail, or whatever else.

Post your price-range, and what you'll be using it for, and maybe we can get into further discussion.
