I have a Dell laptop with a couple of USB 1.1 ports. I am looking for a hardware adaptor/converter that I could connect to these ports to make them work like usb 2.0 ports. Are there any such devices available in the market at a reasonable cost ?

that is not possible -- the 1.1 USB ports will always behave as 1.1 ports because their hardware is limitted to these requirements -- there is nothing you can add to these ports to make them as fast as a USB 2 port.

What you can do however is user a compact card adapter to gain USB 2 ports

The PCIMA Port that you have will allow you to buy a device to do just that it is USB 2.0 the ports you have on your PC that is USB 1.1 will still be the same but you can use your mouse and keyboard externally if you have these.

You would have to buy a USB 2.0 card that fits in the PC card slot on your computer. As those cards usually only have one USB port on them, you might also want to pick up a USB humb to plug into the one port to give you several ports.

No, you'll have to buy a USB 2.0 expansion card for the laptop.
