Consult the handbook that came with the laptop to find out the maximum memory that the laptop can take. If not I would suggest the Toshiba site itself or you can just call Customer Support.

To change thee RAM, shut down your laptop and remove it from any power outlets, flip it so you face the base. Remove the battery from the laptop. Next to the battery slot, you should find a slot,screwed up and with the label called 'RAM'. Unscrew the lid and remove the RAM by pushing it forward and lifting it. Insert the new RAM.
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THE CURRENT RAM FROM THE LAPTOP IF YOU ARE NOT REPLACING THE ONE IN THERE AND ALSO THE ONE YOU ARE INSERTING SHOULD BE WITHIN THE SPECIFIED PARAMETERS OF MAXIMUM RAM YOUR LAPTOPN CAN TAKE. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAKE MAKE YOUR LAPTOP USELESS....
