I think you should resubmit question saying name/model of printer and cartidge number. You could find someone with a similar problem/solution. I have HP printer and when ink runs out it merely becomes very faint and then blank BUT the printer keeps printing nothing. The other point is are you using an original or a 'remanufactured' or a 'compatible' cartidge. Again, come back with these points and someone is sure to have the answer.

Some brands of printer will try to print when out of Ink other brand are set to stop when the ink is low and will not print until you replace the Ink.

Check you ink levels if low or out of ink replace them, the printer should then work.

When mine is low or out of ink, it runs the paper through anyway - the colors are all off, but it still prints. I would think it also depends on the brand of printer.

in case you purely replaced the ink cartridge, make sensible you bumped off the skinny piece of invisible tape they use over the position the ink comes out. in case you probably did not purely replace the ink cartridge, and also you have not used the computing device for awhile and now the ink doesn't bypass and print on the paper. Take the ink cartridge out, get a tender fabric and hose down it with some warmth water, and sparkling the area of the ink cartridge the position the ink comes out of. placed the cartridge decrease back in and note if it prints.

When my ink is gone it still runs the paper through. There just isn't anything on the paper of course. So I believe that the printer should still run the paper through.
