Why does my laptop beep every few minutes? I have the battery alarm turned off but it still keeps beeping..it even beeps when I turn off the sound.

my monitor keeps showing a blue box with a white lock in it....i think it locked the screen stats somehow..when i try to adjust lightness/darkness or contrast the locik pops up and i cant change anything..it also pops up accasionaly and its realy annoying.anyone know how i tunr it off or unlock it?its a windows xp

Hey I currently am thinking of takeing my old Desktop and giveing it a boost of the comeing up PC games (Neverwinter Night's2 ^^) , but sence I dont know much about hardwear or what Is useful I wanted to know if any one could give me some names, brands, of components that could help me, Ram, a Good Video Card, Maybe a Motherboard. I will post my Comp specs as are now, also a note, this comp was build for me by my Uncle so is all custom.

i am currently using 1gb of ram ,and my mobo can hold 3gb,my question is
: is it worth carrying on upgrading until i reach the 3gb limit or is there a amount that will be "enough"
i ask this as by saving money on future ram upgrades the money can then be ploughed into other parts of the computer such as storage and graphics

I've looked at savastore for some decently priced motherboard kits, I was looking at a dual core pentium Aries Pentium D 2.6GHz Skt 775 / 512MB / Motherboard Kit.

A mate of mine is currently looking at going for an athlon dual core 4200. I'm put off by the price in comparison although I know this machine will out perform the pentium. I really want to know if I'm getting a significantly faster better pc for my money by upgrading and going for the pentium. I use my pc for a variety of applications, I do multi-task graphics and video applications being the core of my work, but I also play a lot of games.

I am looking for a relatively low budget set up but want to get a decent machine for my cash or if I'm better staying with what I've got I might just up the ram. Just wondered if going for the pentium is the right move interms of performance. I read up on all this and its conflicting, anyone please help. Also who can get a better deal maybe on an athlon dual core, pls let me know

So, if laptop A and B compete for performance in playing 3D games (The Sims 2 in particular), which one will win? I'm asking because I'm torn between getting one of the laptop.

I have a dell 3100cn colour laser printer setup on my home network but sometimes when i try and print it comes up with 'out of memory' on the front of the printer.

I have succesfully printed a 2.5MB jpg picture full A4 size tonight and now it said out of memory trying to print a 150Kb jpg picture and a 2 page text document.

Why?

I have a normal floppy disk that I have been using to save my assignments for a college writing class. I have a 10-page paper on there that I saved changes to last night. When I try to bring it up today, however, I get a message saying the file cannot be read. Any way to get around this? Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Although i do not want to reinstall all my apps, etc. Can i plug my new drive into my computer (via external usb hd interface), cut and paste all the data over to the new drive. Then pull out my old one and replace it with the drive i just copied all my data onto? I have a feeling this won't work.

i have a super slow celeron processor computer and i need to upgrade because it can't even play sims 2, and i just ordered sims 2 pets, and i really wish my computer was fast enough..
