Can you open the programs from the start button? Try downloading and running AVG antivirus in safe mode. Also do the same with Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Windows Defender. Ad-Aware will also run in safe mode. You can go into safe mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly after a restart. Choose safe mode with networking to go online while in safe mode.
