So, if laptop A and B compete for performance in playing 3D games (The Sims 2 in particular), which one will win? I'm asking because I'm torn between getting one of the laptop.

A.
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4MB L2 cache
2GB (two SODIMMs) memory
160GB Serial ATA, 5400rpm HD
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB of GDDR3 SDRAM

B.
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz/667MHz/4MB)
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM memory
80GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GTX

Basically, for a lower spec. graphic card in laptop A, will the larger hard drive, RAM and processor clock speed make up for the performance of the game? Thanks.

In my opinion, and I'm not an expert, I would go with Laptop B. The faster processor and extra gig of RAM will help Laptop A, but on Laptop B the larger RAM on the video card should help with the slack of less system RAM. Also the faster the hard drive, the faster it can access the data. my big problem is the bus speed. 667 MHz is crap. I have an AMD 3600+ at 2000 MHz FSB, ATI Radeon w/512 on board, 160 GB Seagate @10K rpm, 2 GB Ram and I can play almost any game with the highest allowable framerate and get no lag. But it is also a desktop and I build my own. I would say go with B. But I'm sure there will be some who diagree.

what type of video games do plan on playing? in case you advise on playing video games with large component like maximum more recent first man or woman capturing video games i do no longer imagine both of them might want to be solid sufficient. it would want to be solid enought o play video games that require lesser use of the images card like the sims video games and probably some older video games,. notwithstanding the first one you listed is the further constructive of both. The images card is extra constructive, it has a extra constructive, more recent and faster processor.

I'd guess that in this case, the 'limiting factor' would be the graphics card.

Monitor quality could also be an issue.
