a tower is a big collum u set on the ground and a desktop you put on top of your desk then you usually put your moniter on top of that

If you meen in regards to computer cases, a tower is an upright case, and a desktop is the horizontal one like most older computer have.

Tower: Tall and narrow.
Desktop: Flat and wide.
Minitower: Cube-shaped.

A desktop is what you call the whole computer and a tower holds everything inside....IE: motherboard, hard drive, CD-RW...etc...etc
