That computer will never be able to play Neverwinter Nights 2, unless it's already got an XP 3200, and you buy yourself a 7800GS video card, along with two 1GB sticks of RAM.

You'll need to either have him build you a new computer, or buy a $400-600 pre-built, and add memory and a video card to it. If you decide to go that route, I'd recommend any of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompare.asp?Category=228&Brand=1146&N=2032280010+50001146&Submit=ENE&Nty=1&Manufactory=1146&SubCategory=10&CompareItemList=N82E16883103032%2CN82E16883103003%2CN82E16883103012%2CN82E16883103011

If you decide to have him build you another computer, I'd personally recommend getting an Intel E6300/6400 processor, with an Asus P5B-E motherboard, two 1GB sticks of PC6400 RAM, and an nVidia 7600GT or faster video card, along with a quality 500 watt or so power supply.

When it comes to power supplies, quality is what counts, not how many watts the company says it can put out. A 380 watt Seasonic will have twice the available power of a 550 watt no-name psu. Think Enermax, Seasonic, Enhance, and PC Power & Cooling. You can't run $1,500 worth of computer components with a $15 power supply.

1. CPU = AMD Athlon(tm) processor.... whats the speed ?
I'll assume its Athlon 2800+

2. RAM = You currently have 512MB, its the minimum to run games now-a-days
Get another CORSAIR or TRANSCEND 512MB RAM
or maybe two 512MB RAMs if you can shell out money.

3. Gfix Card: You have a MX 440 with 64MB video memory. (FX and MX series are not so good)
Since your comp is 2years old (assuming), we'll have to look for AGP.
Get either nVidia's GeForce 6200 (atleast), or 6600 (non-GT)
and if you want a better good gfix card, get a 6600GT

4. If your processor is 2800+, the motherboard should be good enuf too ;). I don't think you need to upgrade the motherboard (unless you want to get a new processor.)
Is it ASUS K8N by any chance ;)

The above RAM and Gfix card depends on your budget.
If you can shell out more money, then get a better gfix and more RAM [2GB shud be more than enufffffffff ;) ]

countless linux distros have a definite version in easy terms for netbooks because of the fact as you're saying many prevalent distros are too great or the netbook has some barriers that the conventional version can not account for. A twin boot gadget would have a minimum of two OSes and you decide on which to apply once you boot the pc. to apply the different OS you should reboot. in case you place one OS on a digital device then you definitely could have the two working on the comparable time and turn returned and forth the comparable way you will possibly change between 2 open apps. the pc won't have the supplies to run the two OSes in a digital device as without delay as working one OS on my own. homestead windows video games would properly be complicated under linux and WINE. maximum intense game enthusiasts keep homestead windows to run video games. Ubuntu is a sturdy all around distro yet will ought to have some codes put in for multimedia. that's amazingly uncomplicated to place in them. There are some distros that incorporate magnificent utility like Ubuntu Studio for multimedia
