monitor help please?

my monitor keeps showing a blue box with a white lock in it....i think it locked the screen stats somehow..when i try to adjust lightness/darkness or contrast the locik pops up and i cant change anything..it also pops up accasionaly and its realy annoying.anyone know how i tunr it off or unlock it?its a windows xp

umm...its a dell flatscreen so i dont see a reset button..as for display option i didnt find it..anyone else know please

Check display settings too.In control panel.
