Is it better to leave my computer on during the time I use it (for example 9 am till 5 or 6 in the evening or to shut if off for a couple hours when I am not using it?

I'm trying to add a e-GeForce 3d video card to my computer so my grandson, 5 yr, can play City Life (a Sim program). I've built 2 computers so I know I can do this if I can find the answer to the PCI slot question. Also I've got to find out how to disable the integrated Video on the Motherboard.

Is it safe to delete cookies in "My Computer"? I know how to get there through "Local Disk C:", "Documents and Settings", and then the folder with my name on it. ~~~~~~ Please only people who know what they are talking about. I don't want to screw up my computer!!! Thanks

It doesnt work. I have new basic Norton Antivirus 2006? Does that have to do with it? I also can't go to start-run. when i type regedit it say "it been used by another program". How do i get my ctrl+alt+del to go bakc to work??

My old cd-rewriteable broke, and I am trying to get a new one. But I cannot find the same model, does its matter if i put another model? Or it has to be the same model inroder to be compatilble with my computer. (my computer is a WINDOWS XP Home Edition Compaq)

K my hard drive is 33gb and i have 256mb left. Next thing i see is that my hard drive space is going down. example 256mb goes down to 244mb down to 222mb. what is this i scaned for virusses and spywars it found some stuff but the problem still goes on.

im on sbc dsl,and it not my connection.....if i walk away from my computer like 3 or more hours i cant get back online til i reboot,then im fine for another 3 or 4 hours,ive tried all sorts of power settings,hibernate,never go off,etc,etc...im totally bafelled....what internal settings could i play with that might resolve this......thanks people...

When i boot up my machine, i pressed delete and got into the BIOs screen and went to "Boot"
It says the following
1:ATAPI CD rom [none]
2:IDE hard drive [none]
3: removable hard drive [ATAPI MO}
4:Other boot device {INT18 Device newtwork]

does this mean that i have no hard drive? or that it it broke?

It dosent boot up at all, just says boot failure ,insert boot disk

The HD itself works and I can turn it on and off. The problem is that my PC doesn't connect to it, meaning that when I plug it in, I hear a sound, suggesting that a device has been connected, but there is no icon showing this, and also "My Computer" does not show an external drive.

I've bought this CD-ROM recently. When I installed it on my PC the machine says SYSTEM HALT due to IDE installation error and it stays that way. I took it back to the vendor for a recheck. There, on his machine, it worked perfectly. So, I asked him what's wrong. He said there's nothing wrong with either the CD-ROM or my machine. He said that some jumper settings, on my mother board, has to adjusted for running this device. I checked my motherboard's user manual, but it was of no help. Could advise me about this trouble? Do you know exactly which jumpers has to be adjusted? Please help.
