If I want to get a new cd-rewriteable, does it has to be the same models as the old one?

My old cd-rewriteable broke, and I am trying to get a new one. But I cannot find the same model, does its matter if i put another model? Or it has to be the same model inroder to be compatilble with my computer. (my computer is a WINDOWS XP Home Edition Compaq)

As long as it fits in you case, it will work. Most are called "half height".
