I have been trying to copy a file from a CD into my laptop. I have been getting the data error (cyclic redundancy check). I have tried copying the CD using other PCs.
For info, I am using XP SP2 for my laptop.
I have tried using Windows 2000, XP SP1, XP SP2 (my desktop). All copied fine, with no problems whatsoever.
Initially, my laptop system was in FAT32 format. That was the only difference compared to the other systems. I thought that was the issue so I converted it to NTFS using convert.exe method. But still did not solve the issue.
My only guess is my CDrom drive. Using Matshita UJDA755 DVD/CDRW combo. Perhaps my settings doesn't allow the CD
read the last part of the disc (yes the .cab was towards to end)
Gonna try cleaning the lens to see if it works.
Oh, btw, other files copied well, except for this particular .cab file
Even other .cab files copied OK.
Hope someone will be able to help me here. Thanks !
