im facing a problem with my local area network a while back i pluged in a new network card which didnt work in the first slot so i kept on trying till it worked.. now in my "network conenctions" i have one local area connection which is number 7 which is causing me a prob whenever i try to connect to the net sayin theres an IP conflict with another local area connection ( the ones ive set before) but the problem is i cant access those local area connections to disable them cos theyre not in the "network connections" window so how can i get rid of the first "six local area connections" in order for me to connect using my usual ip

Hi goto ur start button and select "My Network Places" then after that select "View Network Connections".
Now you will see all your LAN connections and delete the ones that you dont want. If you see only 1 marked as #7 then the others are in your registry and you must use regedit to delete them.
Try using IPCONFIG / ALL to determine how many IP address and cards are running. The XP Kernel will only allow 4 concurrent LAN cards to be active so I dont know why you have 6 ip Address?
But sure way of cleaning the others up is to edit your registry using regedit.

Wow, that sounds like a problem. I am not sure what it is actually.. If there is an IP conflict, do you have another host that has the same IP? If you have hyperterminal, to delete the other information on the router (if thats what you want) you need to go to the configuration terminal to remove it. (that really all i know at this time! i dont think i was any help but, thats all i know !) Good luck!

Go to Control Panel >> Network and Internet Connections >> Network Connections. Under "LAN or High Speed Internet" your connections will be listed....from here you can delete the ones you want.

When your computer found any NIC (Network Interface Card) attached with your motherboard, the Operating System automatically create an Icon named Local Area Connection. You can just right click on it and select disable. You can't delete it unless you uninstall the NIC from your system.
