My pc has lost windows main profile its logging on with an alernnative profile how to regain original profile?

Step 1.) After the system has logged in with the alternative profile, goto Control Panel-->Users and create a new user (make sure, u give it administrative rights).
Step 2.) Then restart the system and login with the new userid u just now created.
Step 3.) Goto My Computer-->Documents and Settings and then to the folder named with your previous user (the one that got corrupted) and copy everything from that folder.
Step 4.) After that, Goto the folder named with the new user in Documents and Settings and paste everything u copied earlier in step 3.
Step 5.) Optional - U can then go back to control panel--> Users and delete your previous corrupted user.

It depends on what Windows (XP, 98, 2000,..) you have... and on the way your profile was lost...
