I am not very computer savy but I need help. I have just a standard DSL internet connection. I have it setup where it's hardwired into the computer but my XBOX 360 is set up wireless for the connection. I sometimes get a lag or a slower connection when playing on XBOX live and its really bad if someone is on the computer surfing the web and I'm trying to play XBOX. My question is this. I don't know any specs on my wireless network router. I can tell you that it is a D-link and it is about 3 years old. If I was to buy a newer, better wireless network router, would it make my connection better and faster. I'm sure that these have gotten a lot better over the last couple of years.

I have 150 systems in my network. I am going to use 50 systems for some other purpose at one shift. In the remaining two shifts I am going to use all 150 systems. The network will be the same. When I am using 50 systems alone I will disconnect the link between that particular switches with other switches. When I am going to use all 150 systems I will reconnect the switches. So that I can use all 150 systems.

This is the scenerio. Now I have to do this manually (unplug and replug the interlink between the switches) at every time.

Now I would like to know is there is any possibility to do this automatically in any manner without doing it manually at each and every time.

Thanks in advance

They also won't let us pay for another ISP, so that's out too.

I need my own internet, plain and simple. The home network is now "compromised" and my parents think that now (100% out of the blue) downloading is more dangerous than ever and we'll die if I download a movie, album, webpage etc.

The question is - How do I get it? I really don't care if I rent a hellhole apartment so long as I can get an ISP in there to hook up 5Mbps service. What are my options? Get a network card from my phone service provider? Does Alltel have a Mbps network? Doubt it.

What does that leave me with? Anyone ever been in this situation before? I'm sure I'm not the only college student who goes over his 5GB/week quota. Any ideas at all here guys and girls?

They use a software called bluesocket. I have a hell of a time getting the logon page to come up. It is like it is random when it will come up. Laptops running windows xp get this page every time but laptops running vista don't. The IT department of the school doesn't even know why windows vista doesn't like bluesocket. any help would be appreciated as this really drives me nuts.

I just installed Windows Server 2003. somehow I cannot connect to the Internet. I have tried finding wireless and LAN but I couldn't find any of them. I thought there was no driver so I inserted driver and tried but my computer still not see them. When I tried to set 'network connection', there is only one choice that is 'connection to modem - dial up'. I use ADSL so I cannot connect the Internet via dial-up. I don't know why I cannot see any other options when I click 'network connection'. Could anyone help me please... I would like to connect the Internet by using Windows Server 2003. appreciate to any answers :)

I'm having a problem with our Comcast cable internet. When they set up our service, they gave us the modem and a Netgear CG814WGv2. The Netgear CG814WGv2 is giving me tons of problems with playing games online and disconnecting from the internet daily. I tried hooking up a Belkin Wireless G Plus router to it and I cant seem to get the modem to give the router or my computer internet. I'v even tried hooking up the modem straight to my computer and the problim still persists.

When I try hooking my computer up straight to the modem, it comes up with a window that asks if I'm a customer, or a technician. So I choose Customer and I put in my acount number and it says that Comcast does not support this. Yet, that is the way my friend has his comcast connected and his is working just fine without the Netgear CG814WGv2.

Its as if they blocked us from using anything other then the Netgear CG814WGv2.

What can I do to fix this?

That is what I am looking for, I just bought a linksys WRT54GS wireless router, thinking I would be able to have it in my room with my systems, but from there it could not give an internet connection to my ps3 or wii. It only worked when I took it to my computer and hooked it up to my modem. But since it is farther away, the signal is weak, so my questions are:

-are there any routers that can connect wirelessly to an internet modem?
-Can my Linksys WRT54GS router wirelessly connect with my modem?

Does anyone know a website where you can get the IP address of another internet site. Like the IP to myspace or slacker. Or if you know what they are that would be nice. Thanks.

Hi, I currently have a Belkin Pre-N Wireless Router. I'm looking to buy a new wireless router because this one drops out at times and does not work well with my xbox 360. I am fairly tech savy and have port forwarded and allowed plug and play for my xbox, even set it outside the firewall. It worked for awhile, then the router felt like chaning around. So my NAT on my xbox is no longer open, yet the things I had changed on the router are still the same.

I have seen a lot of good reviews on the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router. Anyone have this? Any comments on it? Supposedly it works great with xbox live. I have the xbox 360 wireless adapter. Not sure if i should wait until this is proved N and not draft.

Also, it has a usb port on the back, and I thought i would be able to connect an external hard drive and/or priter to share over the network, but have read you cannot do this? Is this true? Want to use the external for storage and backups.

Thanks for the help!

I am using a buffalo router.

Buffalo AirStation WHR-G54S Wireless Router 4-Port Switch EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11g

I am connect to my computer through Ethernet cable.

I keep getting random disconnects all the time.. and it is really annoying. I have reset the router to see if that was the problem..

Updated the router and I ran the internet straight from the modem it worked perfectly fine. Only seems to disconnect when I use the router. It happens mostly around 10pm or after. Do you guys have any ideas on why it keeps losing connection.
