Best around the area that I live in would be FIOS from Verizon. The reason is that it runs on fiber optics, not copper wires. The bandwidth potential over FO is virtually unlimited.

DSL runs on crappy old twisted pair copper wires that were intended to be used for 3.3Khz voice conversations. The fact that someone squeezed multi-mega-bits per second data transmission out of it is nothing short of a miracle.

Cable networks also use copper wire, but much much higher quality copper than DSL. Eventually the cable networks will fall behind the optical networks.

Ultimately, you won't have a choice of all the different broadband services. You will likely be stuck with whatever you can get where you live.

Depends on where you are. Generally, it is difficult to beat cable -- my COMCAST rocks!
