I am using a buffalo router.

Buffalo AirStation WHR-G54S Wireless Router 4-Port Switch EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11g

I am connect to my computer through Ethernet cable.

I keep getting random disconnects all the time.. and it is really annoying. I have reset the router to see if that was the problem..

Updated the router and I ran the internet straight from the modem it worked perfectly fine. Only seems to disconnect when I use the router. It happens mostly around 10pm or after. Do you guys have any ideas on why it keeps losing connection.

I have seen this sometimes with several different routers. Usually it is caused by a mismatch of the MTU settings. (You would think AUTO would work and it usually does.)

Check to be sure you have MTU set to auto in the router settings. If so change that to the speed of your line supplier and see if the connection is better!

If you are using AT&T DSL change that to 1492 it seems to be much better. Most cable lines will be at 1500 but check with the supplier to see what they are using!

A mismatch in these will cause random drops.

Anything else in the vicinity also using the 2.4GHz band?

I used to have this problem all the time, until I discovered that the lady across the hall had a 2.4GHz cordless phone that she would use to yack at her boyfriend every night around the same time.

Other notorious connection killers: wireless video devices (for sharing a DVD player, etc), baby monitors, wireless video cameras.
