Hi, I currently have a Belkin Pre-N Wireless Router. I'm looking to buy a new wireless router because this one drops out at times and does not work well with my xbox 360. I am fairly tech savy and have port forwarded and allowed plug and play for my xbox, even set it outside the firewall. It worked for awhile, then the router felt like chaning around. So my NAT on my xbox is no longer open, yet the things I had changed on the router are still the same.

I have seen a lot of good reviews on the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router. Anyone have this? Any comments on it? Supposedly it works great with xbox live. I have the xbox 360 wireless adapter. Not sure if i should wait until this is proved N and not draft.

Also, it has a usb port on the back, and I thought i would be able to connect an external hard drive and/or priter to share over the network, but have read you cannot do this? Is this true? Want to use the external for storage and backups.

Thanks for the help!

The DIR-655 is a good router and is getting some good press. Just read http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/d-link-dir-655/4505-3319_7-32145084.html
As far as the N standard, since your internet speed won't be changed by it (you still have slower internet than even G delivers) it shouldn't make too much difference. The main advantage is your LOCAL speed between machines.

If your current router is not working well this would be a good option. The USB plug does indeed not support a NAS but a good ethernet nas would work fine.

As far as draft N vs a finished standard? Most will be able to update the firmware (hopefully) which should be able to make most of these a "Standard N" if it ever gets a final standard.

The QOS included does work well for games and video etc!

i just bought it today; was $150 at best buy. no real issues as of yet. my computer was having issues with the linksys wrt54g p.o.s. i just replaced (constantly dropping connection, yet vonage would still be working; internet explorer always drops). im still trying to figure out if i have to do some finagling here with the vonage router, but can find no info about it. the d-link forum makes you ask permission to join it, so im waiting for permission *rolling eyes*
will edit post if anything changes.
