Is there any difference in performance between PCI and USB wireless network adapters? I need one for my desktop. It will connect to a Belkin G Plus router.

There is a slight advantage to PCI since the card is BUS connected instead of serial connected. However, in day to day use you won't notice any difference. In fact you may find the USB to be more efficient since you can "move" the adapter around to get better signal {just extend the USB cable} where as with the PCI you have to run a longer antenna cable (which causes some loss) in order to position the antenna better! There are some high power PCI cards which do have a very significant advantage - but not for normal local use!
So get the one you like best

to be honust i didnt think there was much difference apart from the wireless pci card has two big rod things sticking out of it and the usb is only a little thing but maybe the pci card is alot faster than a usb wireless im using wireless in a 3 storey house as my wireless rooter is on the ground floor and i still get 54.0Mbps when it's just me on it but when more people come on i get 48.0Mbps but at peak times i just come off it lol as i only get 11.0Mbps sometimes and thats rubbish but i don't mind during this time i like to scan for viruses, defrag all my hard drives and do a system clean up.

Both work well. However if a problem occurs, a PCI card will be easier to troubleshoot.

Eventually USB will replace the PCI buss completely but this is still a few years off and has a ways to go to before the bugs are out.
