I'm having a problem with our Comcast cable internet. When they set up our service, they gave us the modem and a Netgear CG814WGv2. The Netgear CG814WGv2 is giving me tons of problems with playing games online and disconnecting from the internet daily. I tried hooking up a Belkin Wireless G Plus router to it and I cant seem to get the modem to give the router or my computer internet. I'v even tried hooking up the modem straight to my computer and the problim still persists.

When I try hooking my computer up straight to the modem, it comes up with a window that asks if I'm a customer, or a technician. So I choose Customer and I put in my acount number and it says that Comcast does not support this. Yet, that is the way my friend has his comcast connected and his is working just fine without the Netgear CG814WGv2.

Its as if they blocked us from using anything other then the Netgear CG814WGv2.

What can I do to fix this?

I hear you on this...I still can't get my laptop to work on the wifi and they have been here 7 times already. I have to set up yet another service call tomorrow..and they probably won't fix it again. I love the monopoly they have on this. I hate DSL, but comcast is eternally getting on my last nerve.

yes we had problems with our wireless from comcast at the beginning, you 're going to have to call them so that they can send out a technician to install it properly, but first call them at 1888comcast,if you have the netgear from comcast you shouldn't be using a modem, with the netgear, the modem and router are one so you should only have one internet box,if you have more then one something is wrong, you might have to call them more then once if you don't get results,be patient they fixed ours pretty nicely, first call them it might can be fixed without anyone coming to the house
