I have a high speed router and two computers running off of it. I know that there's a way of getting them to be able to transfer files through the router at the router's top speed and just bypassing the internet connection but I haven't figured out a full-proof strategy. When I use yahoo messenger, it works sometimes. But only maybe 1/4 times. Is there some program I can get somewhere that's made to transfer files from computer to computer along the same network?

I recently re-installed Windows XP to fix a few bugs. I didn't do a clean install because I didn't want to lose all my files. On my previous install of XP, I had multiple user accounts set up for different members of my family. Two of the accounts (mine being one of them) were password protected. Now that I reinstalled windows, all the files and folders are still there but I can access mine of the folder for the other password protected account, and i need the files inside them. Is there anyway to get access to those folders?

should my DSL light on my router"BTBROADBAND" flash or should it be on al the time like a video/dvd player power light.

my ethernet light always flash's on and off, i am not worried about that. i keep playing games and i get disconnected so i trying to work out if there is a fault in my router.

also is it normal for router to flash (DSL light) because if i was watching tv programme and channel went off all the time i would not bother watching tv programme, is the ethernet that unstable or is it my router.

I'm buying a new computer for my wife. Right now, mine and her computer are right next to eachother and we are connected to the same DSL modem with 2 ethernet cables. But her new computer will be placed 2 rooms away from the DSL modem(around 40 feet), and the DSL modem will stay next to my computer(next to the only phone jack). So I need to know what my options are to connect her new computer to the DSL modem. Is it possible to buy a 40 ft long ethernet cable and run it from her computer to the DSL modem, or would that degrade the signal for something? Or...I also notice that the DSL modem(Westell VersaLink model 327W) has some sort of wireless option. There is a short antenae on top of the modem. What kind of hardware would I need to buy with her new computer in order to use this wireless option? And would it work well being a few rooms away from the modem? Thanks!
