try checking ur disk by using chkdsk on ur drive
or alternatively have the recovery console for that operatign system

You have two options:

1. Run the system file checker (Start->Run>SFC) and use it to restore the missing file(s). Be sure to extract and restore one file at a time.

2. Download the required files/copy them from some other PC and paste the same in the %system% directory. Be sure that file versions and sizes match otherwise this may lead to other complications.

First solution :-

Boot your system >> Press F8 >> and put your sustem Onto Last Good Known Configuration. It should work.
[note:- After this probably you have to install Drivers]

If its not working then Repair your Windows.

If you know the file name, simply copy that file from another PC to this PC's windows\system. It will resolve your problem.

From your Windows install CD, run setup.exe - and choose the "repair' option. Else, re-install the complete windows.
