I assume you are saying the 2nd PC can't log onto the internet through the modem?

1 common problem: Most internet providers require that each computer be registered with them. You call the service number with all computers connected to the modem and they should be able to see them at their end. Note that some providers charge for additional computers.

Are you using the wireless modem alone or connected to a wireless hub? If you just have the modem being seen by the PCs, it may only be capable of connecting to 1 at a time. (Try turning off the one that is recognized and see if the modem recognizes the other PC.)

If you have a wireless hub between the PCs and the modem:
Is your hub a router? (would say in its docs.)
Is it set to be seen as a router or a hub?

NOTE:A hub connects multiple devices together as if they were all wired to the same connector. A router connects the devices together through its own IP address using software.

My Airport wireless LAN hub is actually a router, with an ethernet cable connection to my cable modem. A router is seen by the provider as a single IP rather than a bunch of individual computer IPs. I can have as many comps on line as I wish and the provider only sees the 1 IP#.

OK, I'm going to go through a quick network diagram, how this should look.
1 You should have an internet connection coming into a modem. (The modem may be built into a router)
2 You should have the modem connected to a router.
3 You should have a wireless access point connected to the router. (It may be built into the router.)
4 Your computers should both have wireless cards. They should have the same type of wireless as the access point (probably 802.11 b/g).

You didn't mention a router. If you don't have one, they're usually $30-80. You may have turned on a security setting which is locking out your second computer. When you set up the wireless, did you set a password, encryption, or mac address filtering?
