Aint no such thing as dialup DSL! If you are on dialup, your pute dials an access number! Dsl runs on the phone line but it isnt dialup!

What I think you are looking at is the two systems in use on DSL, DHCP and PPPOE.
DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
PPPOE is Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet
The second one is technically a dial-up system in that connections are made as needed, but it happens so fast it's completely transparent to the user.

I think the regular dsl is faster than the dial-up version.

I don't think there is such thing as dial up dsl. It's one or the other. It's dial up. Or it's dsl.

there is regular 56kb dialup. then there is highspeed dialup that can be up to 5 times faster.

this last one is what some people call dialup dsl. but it is still 45 times slower than real dsl.
