If your PC is a disktop, it probably does NOT have a wireless card. As they are no intended to be "mobile" there is no reason to have wireless capability. Plus, it is NOT standard on the Optiplex line of PCs.

To check, go into My Network Neighborhood and View the Network Connections. If you have a Wireless card there will be an icon there for configuring the wireless card. If not, you do not have a wireless card.

You can purchase one for about $50 at any electronic store (or Walmart). Recommend that you go with a USB card that comes with a stand or cable. You will have the option to move it around to where you get the best signal. Plus it can be reused on any future desktops or laptops that you might purchase.

However, make sure you really want to go wireless before you purchase the card. Remember that with a network cable, you will average speeds of around 200-300mps. On a wireless connection the best you will do is only 54mps. If you share that single wireless signal with any other computers, the speed will drop dramatically. Often in the 15-20mps range. That is a LOT of speed to give up if you do not have to....

If your PC is any older than 2 years it is unlikely to have the neccesary card - you may have to buy this. Alternatively your router may take either USB or Ethernet cables, generally supplied with it. If you use the ethernet cable it transfers data faster, this will also need setting up, go to Control panel, network connections. You should have a helpdesk Number with your router or 'phone your internet service provider who will talk you through setup - after all it is in their interest to get you up and running asap.
