Computer Networking - August 2006

i just bought it yesterday so that i can use internet on my SONY PLAYSTATION PORTABLE and i connected it and i got the signal in my PSP but i cant get on line. do i need to get a software or sumthing first to install or a cd? theres nothing in the box just the router and its stand and some cables. no cd or anything is there suppose to be a cd in it? i need help. someone that use a net gear routers please help me

that sound a bit dramatic didnt it lol.

ok so here's the problem: I can connect to my router via my laptop with the wireless card built in, but for some reason i cant get on msn or the web page and i cant get on any websites.

So i tried using my wireless card which came with the router, i pushed it in the card bus and it works.

does anyone know why my wireless built into my laptop doesnt work?

This is the dark tale of unability to play games with my brother which are Network/Internet multiplayer compatible. Our computers are both new, costing over $1500 each. Here it is short and simple. We have a router connecting the Desktop computer to the Laptop Computer. We try Starcraft Multiplayer with the Network IP or something connection. We start a game and it works. For a while.... then the Laptop one minimizes the game and On my computer it says he quit. It always does this. Then we Try RED ALERT2. We click the Network Button in the menu, but nothing happens, it just brings us to that same menue. Then we try the Internet connect button on that menu, the whole thing freezes (why? what unwarranted punishment was cursed to us) and it takes a while to get the computers working again. We even tried old Delta Force two and it worked for a while, but with that game it reliably arbitrarily annoyingly suddenly will disconnect you.Why does nothing work? I want to play Starcraft!

Ebay ! What are some good selling techniques ? I had a store on ebay but closed it I was getting some bad feedback and retures I think because I was saying I will returns folks took advantage . I want to make a network wide music playlist that is played through either speakers based off a particular computer or on all computers.

Say we have computer A B and C. Computer A has the nice surround sound speakers so we want to play the music on it. And people on computers B and C want to be able to que music into the playlist from a network shared music folder. How can this be done?

I perfer to use WinAmp so if theres any way using it that would be prefered. ^^

It goes at 56k/s when my brothers computer is plugged into the router and it goes 4.5 mb/s when I unplug his computer. Could I buy a server or something to speed up my internet while he downloads crap?

I am running a network of 12 pcs with WindowsXP PRO. I am trying to find the best way too filter content from our users. Right now I am using a Netgear Router and a switch. My router filters it but you have to enter addresses that you want too filter. We would like too be using a blacklist? I guess...What should I do?

I have a D-Link 524 Wireless Router. Ever since I installed it I have been comfortably accessing mostly all websites on my laptop using Wifi. But it wont allow me to access hotmail or other sites where i have to sign in and then wait for things to load. There's not much security option . Mine's an unsecure network. I've tried to connect the DSL cable direct to my laptop. Everything's fine. And moreover I am using netgear router at my office and it works fine as well. So its neither my laptops fault nor my dsl connection. Its the router. help me out.

I am about to buy a new laptop, the problem is that I am about to transfer files from my PC to Mac (macbook), instead of buying a hub to transfer files, will I be able to use WIFI (both computer has it) to copy my files from my old (PC) to the new computer (MAC)? If so How?

I have an orange Livebox which I use as the modem for my desktop computer. I am trying to connect it to another computer wirelessly using a 3 com office connect wireless pc card. Although the card shows an excellent signal the computer it is connected to will not go online. How can I remedy this? I have also tried to use a Belkin adaptor with the same results.
