I have an orange Livebox which I use as the modem for my desktop computer. I am trying to connect it to another computer wirelessly using a 3 com office connect wireless pc card. Although the card shows an excellent signal the computer it is connected to will not go online. How can I remedy this? I have also tried to use a Belkin adaptor with the same results.

0. Close Firewall, Anti-virus, etc. Set UP within a clean environment. Try to not configure everything at your first install. do the simpleast one and then, go further.
1. Check your IP valid address
- You computer have a fix IP address or you are getting from a DHCP access? Is this IP address correct? It isn't duplicated within your network?
- Are you using all right configuration (IP range, Mask, DNS, Etc)

2. Check your router configuration
- Do your Router recognize your IP address? You lust set up to use more than one address (usually this is standard).
- Your machine "see" the router (ping)
- Are you sure that you are getting WIFI from your router and not from your neighbour?

3. WIFI connection
- Do not use any security paremeters at your first step. Do not set WEP, SSI, etc.

check to see if you can login to MSN

If its only the internet that isn't working - check if you have a proxy set up - tools>options> connections>LAN settings

You shouldnt have one set up so if you do untick the box.

Theres alsorts of reasons - perhaps the wireless router has a security password set up?

If you are using a firewall on the PC or router - turn it off just so you can check to see if it works.

You may have to enter the MAC address of the wireless PC into the router to let it work (run>cmd>ipconfig /a)

post further info on what you have tried and i will be able to help u more

i also have an orange livebox and had similar problems....The way i solved it was to install all the software and then configurer the livebox not to use WEP keys.
