go to www.hotmail.com and sign up to an account, setting up your email address. From that you add contacts and can send messages etc. Also you will be ble to download msn messenger if you want by clicking on the link on the msn homepage for downloads

if you already have a msn account you need to know the name and password then go to msn home page at the top u will see hotmail click it and it will take you to a page were it will ask you for your msn username and password enter them and sign in then go to the top and select hot mail should take you straight to it , if you don't have a msn account go to internet explorer type in msn messenger and install it and register you can then log into messenger and go straight to your e mail or just go to msh home page and do as i told you in the first part of this message , msn is 1 of the easiest progs to use on the net althoug can be a little confusing for new users :-) but don't worry we all have to start at the beggining and learn good luck :-)
