ok so here's the problem: I can connect to my router via my laptop with the wireless card built in, but for some reason i cant get on msn or the web page and i cant get on any websites.

So i tried using my wireless card which came with the router, i pushed it in the card bus and it works.

does anyone know why my wireless built into my laptop doesnt work?

thanks.

The person above said it already. Your wireless adapter is not connected correctly. Each adapter comes with its own program and all companies of course want you to use their own programs. So you either have to set up the program that came with the adapter or use winxp's wireless setting. Your laptop came with a wireless adapter so it's set up for that.

if you can connect to the internet with your router but you can't surf the net or use the messenger, then the problem will be either from the proxy/port, or from the configuration of your IP address, subnet mask, default gateway or DNS. so contact your ISP for more info.

It could also be that the built in card is not compatible with your ISP. I've had that problem while setting up home networks. Check with your ISP for compatability with the built in card.

Try having a fiddle with ya fire wall.

Mine took ages to sort out and it turned out it was conflicting with my anti virus and firewall.
