My laptop often overheats and I wanted to increase the fan speed. The automatic controller is apparantly not working well since the computer will often "trip" and turn off due to excessive temperatures. Thanks!

I'd be interested in comments from anyone who has tried this out. Specifically, I'm wondering how useful it would be for note taking in meetings. My handwriting is atrocious and in the event of arbitration, my notes become legal documents so it's important that I have them in some usable form.

I have Orginal Copy of Windows 98 but the serial i have it wont Work , i get erorr serial , i bouhgt this copy from ebay befor 6 moths and just now got chace to try install it . but the serail came with the Cd is wrong . i was wonder if there any way i can recover it from the Cd

When I turn my computer on, it works great for awhile. But then all of a sudden it slows sown dramatically.
(I'm talking about having to wait for letters to appear after I type them).
I'll restart it and it works fine again.
I do all the usuall cleanups, virus checks, defrag, etc.
Any thoughts on the possible cause and cure?

Winzip does a good job of leaving them the same size, but I use a 'evaluation' version of winzip.

Is it possible to change the settings so it actualy does compress these files?

I just purchased a laptop to accompany my desktop computer. I decided to retire my wired Linksys router and replace it with a wireless-g Linksys router (WRT54G).

Anyway, I ran the CD that came with it and followed the installation wizard properly. I disconnected my old router as directed, and replaced it with the wireless router. For whatever reason, my desktop cannot find an internet connection when connected to the wireless. I havent even tried getting the laptop connected yet because I still cant get the desktop back online. When I unplug the wireless and plug the wired back in, it works and connects to the internet perfectly. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong here?

I want to burn a bunch of music on to it to move it to another computer, and I already have a bunch of DVD-Rs, don't feel like going out and buying a bunch of CDs.

When in the CD burning drive, every program or anything I've used just says there is no disk in it, which leads me to believe that there is some kind of system software I need to download, or that it's a hardware problem.

I just got a new toshiba laptop and I attributed my weak internet connection to the range because the linksys router is connected to a desktop in the bedroom farthest from mine. However, my sister's gateway laptop also has a built in wireless lan and when I repeatedly compared each laptop's performance in the same place hers didn't showcase a lot of the connection problems mine was having.

Basically I experience frequent slow downs and disconnections In an estimate of about 5 or 10 minute intervals, but most times my computer still shows I'm connected to the network. Repairs are ineffective and I'm not the most tech savvy guy around so If anyone could tell me where to even begin with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
