it connects? you mean windows recognizes the printer?
have you set the printer as your default?
in xp: start/printers and faxes (or thru control panel) then add a printer and set it as your default. it will have that checkmark next to it if it's your default.
if you must have the software, go the the hp site and download it.

if its plug and play like mine it should go on no bother and it will ask you to install without disk bu some of them you NEED the disk.
if it doesnt work there are a few sites which you can get drivers for different things.

since it is a hewlett packard you can go to www.hp.com and get the dowloaded version for your printer. i believe it is under downloads and then you will have to pick your printer. fairly easy.

Head over to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=445443&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us and download the driver software.
Run the installation, and it will set your printer up for you.

Go to the HP website, you should be able to download what you need from there. I've had to do this a couple of times and it wasn't that hard...and I am pretty much an idiot when it comes to that kind of stuff...

If you have an internet connection, go here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=445443&lang=en&
From there you can pick your operating system, and download the drivers....
Good Luck!
