its illegal for you to put a keylogger on a computer. best advice is to set the messengers to save the conversations that your child is having... I know that MSN Messenger will let you. Search it online. edit: did some research that this is what I've found bout keyloggers. Installing a key logger on someone else's system and obtaining information without their knowledge is definitely against the law in most countries, unless you are their legal guardian.

Some questions first
1. Do you have your own place?
2. Do you pay for the Internet connection?
3. Did you buy the computer?
4. Are you over 18 years old?
5. What have you been doing on the computer that they have to keep an eye on you?

No you can't.

If you are a minor, if you live in your parents home, if the computer belongs to your parents (i.e. they paid for it), and if they are providing your support, your rights to privacy are pretty much what your parents say they are.

Why not try following their rules while you live in their house. It will cause much less drama.

Do you call the cops when your parents force you to clean your room? Or ground you? Or give you a curfew? Or tell you what not to eat?

you must be trying to hide something nd if its privacy youre worried about then give your parents reason to trust you otherwise if you are under 18 you have no need to complain

Why should you even care if you aren't doing anything wrong or going to web sites you shouldn't be going to?

If you are living at home - in their house - they can do anything they want to do, especially if you are underage.
