Winzip does a good job of leaving them the same size, but I use a 'evaluation' version of winzip.

Is it possible to change the settings so it actualy does compress these files?

WMV files are heavily compressed anyway. An audio file is probably only about 8% of the original size, so further compression is not possible. All you can do is to reduce the bit rate from 128 (CD quality) to say 64 (FM quality) which will shrink the files a bit more. You can go down to 32 before it starts to sound too bad on a portable device

Try changing the compression level?
