well, ive downloaded Firefox and now when i try to open internet explore it doesn't work, i need it to use msn messenger and real player etc!! plez help

I've heard two sides. I've heard it's better to leave a desktop computer on because turning it on and off on a daily basis may wear on the hard drive which can eventually seize. But I also understand that leave it on will use a fair amount of electricity in a year.

my screen resolution is set at 640-480 and my color quality is at 4, i cannot change it cause i have no options too.how can i fix this?.everythings so blurry on my screen and cannot do much ...can anyone help with this problem? i tried trouble shooting and nothing..what else is there to do ?

I have a Compaq Presario 2200 (Really old, I know) and I need to bring the laptop battery back to life for about 5 minutes.

I don't have a charger at ALL, and I need this within 5 hours...please help me!!! I'm going crazy!!!

What extra programs can I download to make my computer get rid of it's virus? ( read details )?
I have a really bad virus..and I am only a 11 year old..so I can't format my computer..my sister can't because she just recently formatted my computer & my parents don't know much about computers and a computer guy?? well there are no computer guys around in our area..so what extra programs can I download?

The programs I have so far are:

well if your wondering what the problem is here it is:

my computer restarts by itself automatically and it freezes, crashes, etc..so that is the problem and I usually only go on the computer for 1 hour..so please help & thanks ;)

another thing that happened was that my computer restarted by itself , it logged of & restarted..strange hey?

Im doing a restaurant project on powerpoint and i'd like to display a continuous fireplace on my first slide. my laptop's processor is an amd athlon64 x2..... i'm guessing the 64 stands for 64-bit processing?....but, it says on the laptop that the system is only a 32-bit processing type.. does this mean in a godd way or bad way.. the fact that the amd i got is 64-bit???

A couple of weeks ago my computers CD rom drive just started to randomly eject itself. I can be in the other room and I would hear it just eject and I could walk in and see the tray open. It also sometimes closes it self. Just wondering if anyone had any insight on what might be causing this?

okay. my sony hdd camera really sucks. it records mpg files. and whne I want to import the into windowsmovie maker is says an interferance has to many methods to fire from. wtf? my videos go into my picture folder alot. but can you help? I have a desktop running XP home. The Email client is OE. My notebook is running Vista Home. I'm trying to use the same mailboxes over the nework so both my desktop and laptop have the same messages showing, but when I try to access the folder on my network, it says I don't have permission even though I've marked all the folders as SHARED. If i create a new folder (on the mapped drive) I can access the folder ok in MY COMPUTER, but if I try to select that folder for my storage area, the OK is not selectable. Any ideas?
