I mainly just want to use a lap-top for word processing and printing. But if my access to the internet ceases away from home, I may have to establish a connection and access at home.
(As I wouldn't be able to afford the expense of broadband, I would need to purchase a pre-paid dial up connection instead)
However I don't use the internet for games, video editing, graphics, etc.

I could buy either 1 of 2 HP Compaq Presario's
The cheaper one, is the C710TU with:
Celeron M 530 (533 MHz) processor and 512 RAM

compared to the C719TU model with:
Duo Core Processor and 1 GB of RAM.

(Both come with Windows Vista - one of the Home Editions/versions)

My husband dropped off my laptop to be fixed at The Computer Guys. The only thing wrong with it was that it was not holding a charge. The DC connector was broken inside the computer, but everything else worked perfectly. When we got the computer back from The Computer Guys, we were told that the CPU was burnt. Since everything worked prior to us giving in the laptop, we didn't think it would effect the laptop's performance, so we didn't authorize any further repair. But, when we tried to turn on the computer, the screen wouldn't work. When we called The Computer Guys and inquired about this, they said that it was because the CPU was burnt. We called back later and spoke to a "help desk" person that said he wanted to "make things right" but when we brought in the computer and he examined it, he too said that it was the CPU. When my husband inquired as to how this could happen whereas it was working perfectly prior to our giving it to them for the DC connector repair, we got the run around. I tried talking to the company several times, I tried going to mediation through the Better Business Bureau, but in the end I was left with rude remarks from the business owner, a company that didn't want to own up to the fact that they burned my CPU while soldering the DC connector, a repair bill for $150.00 and the cost of buying a new laptop. While relating my bad experience to a coworker, my husband learned that he too had had a bad experience with this company. We really wish we had known that prior to bringing our laptop in for repair to The Computer Guys. My advise is to go elsewhere. This company does not care about you, they screw up the work, don't admit fault and then use lies to try and make you look like you're trying to pull something over on them. Stay away from The Computer Guys.

I had been an Internet Explorer user for years until recently in my discussions with a couple of true computer technical experts, I heard that the insider's choice of browsers was Mozilla Foxfire over Internet Explorer. So I downloaded Mozilla Foxfire and have been using it for a couple of weeks, but recently got bumped out of Yahoo! Answers for some Mozilla Foxfire technical glitch that caused me to lose my work, and it ticked me off!

I've not really come to the point where I fully appreciate why Mozilla Foxfire is all that much better. Do you know why it is supposedly better? What are the features or advantages I'm not seeing or focusing on? You may think Internet Explorer is actually better. Right now, I'm sitting on the fence on this issue and can use either one as both are loaded on my computer.

I'm looking for informed responses and not just guesses so if you do have technical know-how in this area, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance for ur response

Back in the day, when I was at school, it was all BBC Acorns, Commodore 64's etc. And computer lessons had students just typing lots of ones and zeros. I realise that is some 20+ years ago now, but is binary still really important in computers?

I want to have a business network with the Windows Server acting as the DHCP server while using a Cable Internet connection running through a Linksys router and allowing NON business computers internet access.

I want to be able to share internet access with business network computers and non business computers.

The server should act as a DHCP server to business network computers and the Linksys router to non-business computers as well as wireless computers.

Is it possible??

Is there another way to do it?
I need the wireless internet access and need to provide internet access to personal computers that should not have access to the business network.

How can I do this?/
