why don't my shortcuts load in ie6, they did initially and then poof!!?

... when i click on a link and the bar at the bottom of my window bar says loading shotcut a new smaller window opens up but nothing loads into it. practically it's see through... i can still see the previos page through it.went to microsoft.com andtried troubleshooting but since i'm on a windows 98 and they are no longer supported by microsoft there was no help for me. downloaded firefox and even the firetuner but it is really really slow especially in yahoo. right now i'm typing this and have to actually wait for it to appear on this screen. hope someone knows what i can do!

Please re-post and tell us if you mean the "Links Bar" is missing or your Favourites disappeared or something else.
