Because it is not a "pressure sensor" as such, but detects small electrical currents when your finger completes low power circuits to detect position. So a glove insulates, and hence it doesn't work

A sizeable part of the pressure that you exert through your finger is dissipated through the fabric of the glove. Since the fabric is like a wire mesh with lot of air inside, it dissipates pressures very well.

The remaining pressure that reaches the touchpad surface seems too low to make a difference to the sensors of the touchpad.

Body heat. Same goes to some elevator buttons. It senses body heat to prevent from accidental pressings. That's why it doesn't do anything with your gloved hand. Try it with your nose, you'll be amazed to what I'm saying.

its because the pad recognises your fingertip not your fingerprint but when your wearing gloves its softer so yeah i think it dose have something to do with grip....

It's to do with the sensor, its made to sense your finger, not a flat service
