I mainly just want to use a lap-top for word processing and printing. But if my access to the internet ceases away from home, I may have to establish a connection and access at home.
(As I wouldn't be able to afford the expense of broadband, I would need to purchase a pre-paid dial up connection instead)
However I don't use the internet for games, video editing, graphics, etc.

I could buy either 1 of 2 HP Compaq Presario's
The cheaper one, is the C710TU with:
Celeron M 530 (533 MHz) processor and 512 RAM

compared to the C719TU model with:
Duo Core Processor and 1 GB of RAM.

(Both come with Windows Vista - one of the Home Editions/versions)

It should be a crime punishable by death to sell any Vista PC with less than 1GB RAM. But, budget box sellers do this all the time.

So, if you "don't use the internet for games, video editing, graphics, etc." the Celeron M530 should be adequate, but buy the extra RAM.

Buy the Duo core if you think your needs may change in the future. Laptops can't easily be upgraded, so pay close attention to the built-in graphics and buy the best you can afford.
