I have quest highspeed that stays at about 54 mbps. download: 1787 upload: 756 ping: 62

I think the 54mbps is your wireless 802.11G LAN speed. Not applicable to your WAN speed.

I have SOHO upgraded cable service from Time Warner and I've clocked 9200 down and they tell me I can achive 2000 up. I've not tested upload though.

Web applications need a quality connection - never mind the speed measure the quality!

Go to http://www.speedtest.net to get a comparison of other ISPs in your area, etc.
