If I were to use a ECS G33T-M2, Socket 775 motherboard with either an Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 or an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 will it work?

these are my system parts:

Ram: Patriot PDC21G6400LLK
2x 512 MB DDR2-800

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
320 GB, 7.200 RPM, 16 MB cache, SATA/300

DVD: Samsung SH-S183

Power Supply: Silverstone ST50EF-Plus
ATX 2.2, 500 Watt

Graphics Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 2600 Pro
w/ Silent Pipe II Cooling

Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5

Will I need to upgrade anything else? Should I get a 2x1gb ram instead of the 2x512mb?

Yes.

But your power probably needs more (W).

Yes, that motherboard will support your core 2. However, not ALL socket 775 motherboards will work with ALL 775 CPUs. I would, however, recommend moving away from ECS...good features but their quality isn't very good. With all high end hardware you're running, you should really go for something better than a $90 motherboard.

As far as ram: If you can afford it, you should definitely go with 2gb over 1gb.

Edit: you -might- want to think about getting a supply with more power, the 500 will probably be enough.

In short: all Core 2 Duo are supported by your mobo.

About the other questions: 500W power are enough with a Coolermaster case - about memory my advice is to upgrade to 2x1 GB Corsair DDR2 at 800 MHZ - last but not least, keep Seagate for backup and replace with one (or two) Western Digital Raptor 150 GB.

Yeah Core 2 Duos use Socket 775 architecture so it will work. It is better to get 2 strips of 1gb ram.

Yes both these processors will work because they are socket 775 so you will be fine i would also recommend getting a good heat sink and fan
