ok so I'm trying to learn C and C++, and whenever I execute the program it runs in the blink of an eye and I don't have time to see what it says, I remember there being a pause command or something that I could put in there somewhere that would wait for me to press enter, can you tell me where to put it and exactly what it's called? thank you

Hey guys,
I'm a linux newbie and just installed the latest Ubuntu. I have a 22" monitor that runs 1680x1050 @ 60 Hz. However, when I try to change the resolution, the highest I can go is 1280x1024. I've tried basically everything. I've used the "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" command, modified the xorg.conf file directly, tried adding Modelines, etc. Nothing seems to work. Please help me out, since I feel like I'm about to go crazy and just say to hell with Linux.

I ordered an item off e-bay that i could only get through paypal, so i set up an account with my checking. It has been two days and my checking account shows that it is pending and my paypal accounts shows a zero balance. Am i doing this rrght. I emailed the seller to see if he got my payment but he has not replied. The status says complete. I also ordered another item but got a refund the next day because they were sold out off a different site and the refund has not shown up in my checking but paypal sayed that it was complete as well. Thank you for you time to help me. Answers needed ASAP. I was ordering a birthday gift. i do not konw that i will get it on time.

Ok, so i got vista from my cousin and downloaded it to my pc (xp) and i had vista for like 2 months then one day said it was no longer valid and for like ever ive had to go thorugh files and **** i no longer have a desktop to do the normal things a pc can do. it all like works though downloads n stuff still work but its not the same, but the worst and only part that bugs me a lot is it shuts off every hour on the hour back to the main "validate vista screen" its not hard to go back to everything but it sucks cuz it signs me out of my stuff..is there anyway at all to stop it from going off every hour??

I have gone into my restricted sites and added them, but when I tried to add the same website with a different # in the address, it won't allow it and says it is in another zone. What other zone? I have done numerous virus and spyware scans, says my computer is safe and everything is running as it should..but it's not!! When the page comes up it will say the website but also "no page to display." It keeps changing the # in the address..help please.

it will work fine under vista just not xp, like if i go to play a online game under xp my net will shut off or drop from 11 mbps to 1mbps makeing whatever iam playing stop working online, but under windows vista( this is same pc,went from xp to vista to xp agin many times) it will work fine. so if i play the same online pc game on vista: the net will work fine. this also happens if iam downloading something too, it will do the same thing for games and dl's for xp not vista. so i need help to find out how i can help my internet work better on xp. i have wireless internet, reall good connection and quality, so i dont think thats the problem with it. if i do repair the connection on xp it fixes it, but will just start up agin if iam dl or playing online.

Thhe only thing on my screen is the background picture. There are no files, start button not even the internt. The only way I can go on the Internet is if a pop-up comes on.I don't know how this happend and It was perfectly fine yesterday. I'll be really thankful if someone helped me out

About 2 weeks ago I got a Zonealarm alert saying "firefox.exe is attempting to monitor user behaviour blah blah". Also Snoopfree Privacy shield alerted me about that.

The firefox.exe was in the default place, c:/programs and settings/mozilla firefox/firefox.exe. I never got those alerts again, they happened just once and haven't since.

Yes I know it's a little bit late to ask this but I became concerned about that yesterday.. I didn't pay attention to it before. Does someone know what could have happened those things?

It was working then it just quit (several times over several months) then it works again! I have reinstalled several times checked all the config. settings (10 times), restarted (20 times), checked firewall applications, changed firewalls, gone through java.com's faq's and suggested fix's, checked IE's internet connections and security settings. I'm not sure how old this thing will be, but it's my mom's current computer, and next week when I'm home for T-day I will get it and bring it home. I would guess it's only a few years old, so it probably has XP on it and a decent amount of space. I want to clean up the HD and make this computer as new-seeming as possible. If she does not have the original disks for XP how can I reformat or whatever else needs to be done? What else should I do with an older computer like this?

When I bought my computer two years ago, it came with a free upgrade to wireless. In August, I would get a message saying "Windows couldn't configure your wireless connection", in which case I would just restart my computer and the connection would be fine.

Now, when I get disconnected, I will check my list of wireless connections, and it says none are in range. Even turning off and back on the button [to search for networks] doesn't help. It just makes my computer partially freeze to the point where I need to restart.

Someone please help!! This is frustrating! :(

I need to turn my modem into a wireless modem, much to my dismay. I have bought a wireless router and an access point. Are these the only things I need in order for the wireless network to talk to eachother? Can an access point be used in the same manner as say, a PCI wireless adapter card? I jsut did not want to crack open my PC and install a card.

Wall---->modem--->wireless router---->

...using remote desktop (from an XP computer), to a server running Windows Server 2003 OS when one of its roles is a Remote Access Server (VPN)?

If so... how?

I've been able to connect to my server w/ Remote Desktop previously... but as I'm trying to configure a VPN for this machine - I can't connect this way, until I remove the role.
