wecams.and how they work.?

can i just buy a webcam.plug it in.or do i need sortware.to go with it.i have a persario.and windows xp.thanks

Most webcams come with software that will allow you to use them. The only software you really need is the driver for the webcam -- there are many free software packages that can then interact with your webcam once you have the driver installed.
